Hardeeville Receives $2.5 Million From Core Communities And Tradition Hilton Head For Its Recreation Park
Hardeeville, SC., Nov. 19, 2007 — The City of Hardeeville received today a $2.5 million grant for additions and improvements to its Recreation Park in the town’s center from Core Communities, developer of Tradition Hilton Head — a new 5,300-acre sustainable, master-planned community being developed just east of Interstate I-95 on US Highway 278.
“This is truly an extraordinary contribution made by a developer who we have come to greatly admire,” said Hardeeville Mayor Rodney Cannon. “We are most grateful to Core Communities and Tradition for this gracious gift to the future of our city and the welfare of our citizens.”
“Core Communities is all about creating places where a variety of lifestyles can be expressed,” said David Page, president of Tradition Hilton Head in making the donation announcement. “We are pleased to have the capability of helping Hardeeville’s city leaders bring their vision into reality for citizens of all ages to enjoy.”
Page noted that funds are earmarked to go directly to building the second phase of facilities for the park. “Our experience is that parks and facilities for recreation like these are important to the overall well being of a community. They enhance both healthy living and a quality environment,” he said.
Hardeeville Recreation Park encompasses approximately 70 acres and is ultimately planned to include a campus of playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, ball fields, walking trails and fishing ponds as well as a senior center, an open-air performance center, small gymnasium and concession stands behind City Hall.
“With much of its infrastructure in place, Tradition Hilton Head is well positioned to bring a mixture of residential offerings, and village-style retail and commercial to this growing area” said Page pointing out: “We are much more than just a developer of residential neighborhoods. As a solid and experienced mixed-used developer, Core Communities expects to provide substantial opportunities for new business growth. Combine that with our new Tommy Fazio Tradition National Golf Course and we are confident our community will become a regional focal point, and as such, we are very pleased to be helping to re-energize the overall quality of life of this city.”
