COLUMBIA, S.C. - January 17, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its 2012 Year-End Statewide Market Report and video. Housing has been the center of attention in 2012. And for the first time since 2006, it is on track to be a net positive contributor to GDP.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - January 15, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its December Statewide Market Reports, and it was largely a year of recovery for housing across our nation. Markets resolved to shed their excess weight, appeal to both existing homeowners and renters alike, and to learn to play nicer with banks. Three for three is not bad, but there's more work to be done. Here's how the final month of 2012 ended.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - December 14, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its November Statewide Market Reports, and there was a lot to be thankful for throughout the month - historically low mortgage rates and affordable prices. Sellers were thankful for increased sales, less competition and faster market times. Challenges persist, but there is more reason for optimism going into 2013.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - November 14, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its October Statewide Market Reports. It's been a comeback year for the housing market. As we round out the remaining two months of the year, let's recap. Most markets have shed listings, resulting from strong sales and sluggish seller activity. There has been a general easing of foreclosures and short sales, meaning distressed listings are dragging prices down less than in recent years. So it's both about market fundamentals and market composition.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - October 15, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its September Statewide Market Reports. In comparing the numbers to September 2011, New Listings in South Carolina increased 0.5 percent to 7,173, while Pending Sales were up 14.6 percent to 4,148. Inventory levels shrank 13.9 percent to 47,520 units. Prices gazed skyward. The Median Sales Price increased 4.3 percent to $154,000. Days on Market was down 11.3 percent to 126 days. The supply-demand balanced stabilized as Months Supply of Inventory was down 24.1 percent to 10.6 months.

COLUMBIA - October 12, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced today that the Housing Authority of the City of Columbia will receive $250,000 to execute grassroots efforts to revitalize the public housing at Allen Benedict Court and Gonzales Gardens of East Central Columbia.

COLUMBIA - October 10, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Donovan today announced $691,036 in grants to help 204 senior citizens and persons with disabilities in South Carolina to receive health care, meals, and other critical supportive services. The grants are awarded through HUD's Multifamily Housing Service Coordinator Program (MHSC).

COLUMBIA, S.C. - August 15, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its July Statewide Market Reports. In comparing the numbers to July 2011, New Listings in South Carolina increased 2.0 percent to 7,907, while Pending Sales were up 11.0 percent to 4,777. Inventory levels shrank 15.1 percent to 48,625 units. The Median Sales Price increased 4.0 percent to $156,000 and Days on Market was down 7.5 percent to 130 days. The supply-demand balance stabilized as Months Supply of Inventory was down 23.6 percent to 11.1 months

WASHINGTON, D.C. - August 15, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Justice Department announced today that John Wingard Altman has agreed to pay $25,000 to settle a lawsuit involving violations of the Fair Housing Act at Altman Apartments, a 16-unit apartment complex he owns in Summerville, S.C. In July 2012, the court, ruling on a motion filed by the government, found that the defendant had violated the Fair Housing Act by discriminating against families with children.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - March 15, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today released its February Statewide Market Reports. New Listings in South Carolina decreased 7.2 percent to 8,228. Pending Sales were up 16.9 percent to 4,653. Inventory levels shrank 15.7 percent to 48,446 units. Home prices gazed skyward. The Median Sales Price increased 2.6 percent to $140,000. Days on Market was up 3.0 percent to 148 days. Absorption rates improved as Months Supply of Inventory was down 18.4 percent to 11.7 months. Data from Cherokee County is also now included in the reports for a complete statewide picture.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - December 19, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) released its November 2011 statewide market reports last week, which included an error in the MLS statistics for Greater Columbia. The original statewide report showed 123 closed sales for November 2011 compared to 435 closed sales for November 2010, which would have indicated a 71 percent loss. Instead, the corrected report shows 491 closed sales for November 2011, resulting in a gain of 12.9 percent. Please see the attachment for more details.
