Bluffton, S.C. – January 13, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) — Hampton Lake, the first private lake community in the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton area, will host a lecture by Maureen Richards, Executive Director of the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society Wednesday, January 28 at 11 a.m.

Richards will give an hour-long lecture, open to the public, in the Lakeview Room at Hampton Lake about the history of Bluffton, the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society and the projects they are currently working on. Guides to Historic Bluffton, published by the organization, will be available for sale following the lecture at the award-winning community’s Tackle Box, a general store and one-stop-shop for fishing supplies, Hampton Lake merchandise, Lowcountry gifts and everyday conveniences. Backwater Bill’s, the community’s casual lakefront restaurant, will be open for lunch (credit card only).

“We’re delighted to host Ms. Richards and support the efforts of the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society,” said Wade Bales, general manager of Hampton Lake. “This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the community’s history and the programs the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society offers.”

Richards moved to the area in 2002 and received a Master of Arts Degree in Historic Preservation from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She started as an intern with the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society in 2003, became the Heyward House Historic Center Director in 2005 and was promoted to Executive Director of the Society in 2008.
